Level one certification training is broken up into 4 sections.
Level 1 Section one training is required to be an in-person training. The format of the training is 2 hours of classroom lecture to discuss situational awareness skills and scenarios. We focus on the need to understand and be able to articulate your thought process when you are required to recall the exact sequence of events and your thought process. This session is typically conducted on a Friday evening.
The physical techniques and tactics portion of the training is 4 hours and is typically held the following day on Saturday morning and into the early afternoon. This session can extend a bit based on class size to a maximum of 6 hours but is guaranteed a 4-hour minimum. During this session participants will learn and test out physical restraining and self-defense techniques with a major focus on de-escalation and appropriate use of force.
Sections 2-4 build on the techniques and skills of section 1. These trainings can be done via in- person instruction or video training.
After completion of all Level 1 sections, and a minimum of 3 months of independent training, candidates are eligible to submit a video evaluation to demonstrate their proficiency in both awareness skills and physical techniques.
